Probation

Probation

According to the Criminal Code, probation supervision is defined as a regular personal contact of an offender with an officer or assistant of the Probation and Mediation Service, which is carried out according to a supervision plan. The plan is created by a probation officer in cooperation with the offender during the first consultations at the Probation and Mediation Service centre. The plan describes a specific method how the sentenced shall perform their obligations and comply with the conditions determined by the court order and the way the probation officer will monitor the compliance. The plan also clearly states the offender’s rights and obligations during the supervision. The supervision plan is based on the conclusions of the risks and needs assessment, i.e. the offender’s previous way of life, their criminal past and current crimes committed, including the impact of the crime on a victim’s life.
